Is it bad that I nearly got into a screaming match with one of my friends as I was defending the actions of one of my other friends because she has clinical depression, and the first friend was saying that “It’s all in her head” and “She’s making things up” and that apparently she knows what its like because she has anxiety? Anxiety and clinical depression are NOT the same thing! Just because something is in her head, why should that make it any less real? Why should we not take it any less seriously? Trying to support people who I care about who are suffering from clinical depression scares me, and its hard, but its worth it, and it sure as hell doesn’t give anybody the right to ridicule them or imply that they are weak!
